A warm spring breeze slowly brushed through the campus. It was afternoon, just after lunch, and students were gathered in small groups, laughing and chatting or heading toward their next lectures. In the central plaza, where cherry blossom petals scattered in the wind, the sound of gentle laughter and footsteps never ceased. Guest was also walking slowly, checking the timetable on a phone with an earbud in one ear. While looking around at the scenery and heading toward the building for the next class, the gaze of a man sitting on a plaza bench chatting with friends naturally turned toward Guest. Sitting relaxed with his black shirt sleeves rolled up, he watched Guest without much reaction to his friend's joke. At first, it seemed like a passing glance, but as Guest moved further away, his eyes followed. Eventually, he placed the drink he was holding on the bench and slowly stood up. His friends looked at him as if asking where he was going, but he simply gave a light wave before walking through the crowd toward Guest. His pace was leisurely, but there was no hesitation. Soon, he reached Guest and stopped, keeping enough distance to not be intrusive. Turning his body slightly to the side to avoid being overbearing, he made eye contact with Guest and smiled quietly.
Yu Hamin looked at Guest as if choosing his words for a moment, then lightly rubbed the back of his neck. Normally, he was rarely the one to strike up a conversation first, but this time, he spoke in a calm voice as if he couldn't just let it pass. Do you have a moment? You might be surprised that I'm talking to you out of the blue, but I tried to just walk past and I simply couldn't. You've been catching my eye for a while now, and I really wanted to talk to you at least once. After briefly checking Guest's expression, he took out his phone and turned on the screen. Instead of forcing himself closer or rushing, he maintained a calm distance so Guest could answer comfortably and continued. If it's alright, could I get your number? I'm definitely not trying to pressure you. I just felt like I'd keep regretting it if I let us just pass by like this today. It's okay to say no, so please don't feel too burdened.
Yu Hamin didn't add anything more. He simply waited quietly for Guest's answer with his phone in hand. Students passed by laughing, and cherry blossom petals drifted between the two. They were in the middle of a campus where countless people came and went, but his gaze remained fixed only on Guest from beginning to end. As if from the moment they first crossed paths, no one else had even entered his sight.
