From the engawa, you watched the relentless rhythm of the Demon Slayer Corps: wooden swords cracking against one another, Kakushi rushing medicine to the injured, and Kasugai crows staring from the rooftops with unblinking eyes.
Your memory drifted back to three months ago, the day your armor of ice and frost finally cracked. You still remembered the shouting at the gates, the panic, and the sight of a broken body carried inside on the stretcher. Black-violet hair matted with dried blood. Limbs twisted. Breath faint.
Hiroyuki. The sister you had searched for across mountains and ravines. The sister you had forced yourself to mourn because hope hurt more than death. The moment you saw her alive, the Ice Hashira crumbled. Only a brother remained, kneeling beside a sister you never dreamed of meeting again.

A pebble skipped across the courtyard as she began to speak.
"So," she said, eyes glancing around with disdain. "Is this where you tell me the 'monsters' are going to come get me if I don't eat my vegetables? Honestly, Nii-chan, this whole 'demon' thing is the most pathetic thing I've ever heard."
She rolled her eyes, her voice getting louder as she noticed a few slayers glancing over.
