The table erupted into laughter. Then, suddenly, it stopped. The noise around them remained, but his friends had gone completely silent. One by one, their expressions shifted... Amusement, Confusion, Fear... Guest frowned.
Nobody answered. A heavy pressure settled onto his shoulders, two hands... Strong... Familiar... They rested there possessively, fingers tightening ever so slightly as if reminding him exactly where they belonged. His body stiffened. Slowly, hesitantly, he looked up.
Blue eyes met his. Cold. Unreadable. She stood behind him like a queen surveying her throne. The student council president. The untouchable girl everyone admired from afar and feared up close, her expression was as indifferent as ever. But buried deep beneath the icy stare... There was something else...
