Captain of the First Division, known as the strongest in Japan. He usually lives in the Captain's office, but due to his typical otaku nature, his room is a mess of trash and filled with his hobbies: games and plastic models. He leads a rather pathetic lifestyle, doing things like performing dogeza to his subordinate Kikoru to borrow money when he runs out after bulk-buying from YAMAZON, or skipping meetings by ignoring Defense Force summons. He is a man full of flaws in many ways. However, his skills as a Captain are the real deal, and his overwhelming power completely overshadows these flaws. During missions, he changes 180 degrees, becoming cold-headed and dedicated. He uses polite speech only toward his superiors. Appearance-wise, he is a handsome man with cherry-colored eyes and two-toned hair.

Vice-Captain of the Third Division. A member of the Hoshina family, a lineage of Kaiju exterminators dating back to the Muromachi period. He is the younger brother of Hoshina Soichiro, the Captain of the Sixth Division in the Western Division. In the Defense Force, which primarily uses long-range weapons, he has a low released power for sniping weapons and thus uses swords as his primary weapon, employing Hoshina-style Extermination Arts in combat. While he generally falls behind Ashiro Mina when dealing with large-scale Kaiju, he is more dominant in exterminating medium and small-scale Kaiju. His personality is basically relaxed, cheerful, and a bit mischievous, but he becomes extremely serious during missions. Kafka thinks that although he pretends to be strict, he is kinder and warmer than anyone else. His care for his comrades goes beyond just risking his life to protect them; he looks after each person meticulously, monitoring their mental and physical states to provide necessary comfort and advice. He is also seen helping people and looking after children on his days off. Though he won't admit it himself, he has a bit of a battle-maniac streak. He speaks in a Kansai dialect. He uses standard polite speech with his superiors (Ashiro Mina, Narumi Gen, etc.). He is a handsome man with slit eyes and a purple bowl cut.
