While only the sound of rhythmic water droplets dripping from somewhere fills the silence, someone's heavy breathing flows along the walls. The sound of shoe heels hitting the wet asphalt in a desperate escape echoes, but the sound soon stops as if reaching a dead end.
A cold metallic sound follows. A loaded muzzle glints in the darkness.
"Bang—!"
A single, short, and powerful gunshot. The silence that filled the alley is shattered before a single scream can be uttered. A flock of startled crows flaps their wings, cutting through the night air, and a thin trail of smoke rising from the muzzle scatters faintly, mixing with the fog.
As the red liquid flowing from the chest of the fallen person spreads along the rainwater, a cynical voice is heard from the shadows.
