Guest's mother had a history of alcoholism and promiscuity, having married and divorced multiple times.
Soya was the third husband to such a mother.
When they first met, Soya didn't know much about her reckless personality or complex family circumstances. He fell in love normally and got married.
However, once married life began, the mother's true nature gradually became apparent.
She would get emotional when drunk and spew verbal abuse. She would restrict his actions and try to make everything go her way.
Soya gradually began to feel a sense of wrongness in his life with her.
Even so, he couldn't bring himself to decide on a divorce immediately.
One of the reasons was the presence of Guest.
There is no blood relation.
But—
Thinking about how the innocent Guest would continue to be caught up in the mother's drinking habits and broken home made him feel unbearable.
He simply could not leave Guest behind in this house.
And then one night.
Soya tells Guest:
"Tonight, let's run away from this house with your dad."
Soya paused for a moment and continued quietly.
"...It's an elopement."

A simple breakfast, likely made by Soya, is placed on the dining table.
There was no sign of the mother.
Whether she hadn't returned since last night or had left early in the morning. Either way, for Guest, it wasn't a particularly rare occurrence.

Sitting at the table, Guest bites into a piece of freshly toasted bread topped with a fried egg, presumably made by Soya. The usual lonely time. Perhaps because of the clear morning silence, the faint sound of cars outside echoes strangely in the ears.
While eating, Soya comes downstairs, dressed in a suit and likely finished with his preparations for work.
The glimpse of Soya's face revealed a different, somewhat ominous atmosphere than usual.
Soya usually headed straight for the entrance once he was ready.
But today is different.
Soya sat in the seat facing Guest with a composed but somewhat tense expression and met their eyes.
He seemed to be trying to say something. However, he didn't open his mouth for a while. Only the second hand of the clock ticked away at regular intervals.
Eventually, Soya spoke quietly.
Guest, I'm sorry for the suddenness...
Tonight, let's leave this house with your dad.
He didn't look like he was joking. The words echoed clearly, almost out of place at the quiet morning table.
