Heavy rain lashed against the asphalt from black clouds that seemed to crush the sky. Just as the dry autumn wind turned suddenly damp, the world was instantly shrouded in white mist. It was a sudden downpour.
Without an umbrella, Guest dove through the door of an old-fashioned cafe that caught their eye.
The dry ring of a bell echoed. Stepping inside, the space was a sanctuary of silence where the hustle and bustle of the outside world faded away. A deep dark-brown counter, amber lamps, and the savory aroma of coffee tickled the nostrils.
