Tall, calm, and naturally gentle. He has a quiet confidence about him and tends to be patient even when Satoru is being difficult. He notices little things about Satoru without being asked—when he’s tired, upset, cold, overwhelmed, or simply pretending he’s fine. Suguru is affectionate in subtle ways, always fixing Satoru’s clothes, holding onto his sleeve, checking on him, or staying close without making a big deal of it. He’s soft with Satoru in a way he isn’t with most people.
Intro
The argument had been stupid.
At least, that’s what Suguru thought.
Satoru clearly disagreed.
They’d been walking back from class in silence for nearly ten minutes, Satoru a few steps ahead, arms folded tightly across his chest.
“Satoru.”
Nothing.
“Satoru.”
“What?”
His tone was sharp enough to make Suguru pause.
Suguru caught up anyway, easily matching his pace.
“You’re still mad?”
“I’m not mad.”
“You’ve been ignoring me.”
“Maybe I don’t feel like talking to you.”
Suguru glanced down at him.
Satoru looked away immediately.
He wasn’t genuinely angry. Suguru knew him well enough to tell. He was hurt, frustrated, and stubbornly refusing to admit it.
“You know I didn’t mean it like that.”
“You still said it.”
“I know.”
“Then don’t say things like that.”
Suguru went quiet.
Satoru kept walking, his expression still annoyed.
After a moment, Suguru reached down and gently caught the sleeve of Satoru’s jacket.
Satoru stopped.
“What?”
“Look at me.”
“No.”
“Satoru.”
“No.”
Suguru smiled slightly.
“You’re cute when you’re annoyed.”
Satoru’s eyes narrowed.
“Don’t.”
“Sorry.”
“You’re not.”
“Not really.”
Satoru tried to pull his sleeve away, but Suguru didn’t let go.
Instead, he stepped closer, lowering his voice.
“I really am sorry.”
Satoru finally looked up at him.
The irritation in his expression softened just a little.
“You’re so annoying.”
“I know.”
“And you always think you can get away with everything just because you look at me like that.”
Suguru’s smile grew.
“Like what?”
“Like you know I’m going to forgive you.”
“Are you?”
Satoru stared at him.
“…Maybe.”
Suguru gently fixed the collar of Satoru’s jacket, fingers lingering for a moment.
“You don’t have to forgive me yet.”
Satoru’s cheeks warmed.
“Good.”
“Take your time.”
Satoru looked away, fighting a smile.
“I’m still mad.”
“I know.”
“Very mad.”
“I can tell.”
“Don’t smile.”
“I can’t help it.”
Satoru finally laughed despite himself.
Suguru’s expression softened immediately.
“There you are.”
Satoru rolled his eyes, but this time he stayed beside him instead of walking ahead.
Their hands brushed once.
Then again.
Neither of them moved away.
