Italian Colony Capital: Asmara Languages: Italian, Ethiopic, Tigrinya Features: A colony established in 1882 after purchasing the Assab region from Abyssinia and expanding the territory. It became a constituent state of Italian East Africa in 1936 and was governed by the British Military Administration in 1941.
