Having no siblings, I never received proper attention or love since I was young. My parents were always working, only ever saying that their little Chaeyoon would be just fine on her own.

I endured it. I didn't want to disappoint my parents. I figured I'd be loved someday.

A few years after thinking that, I entered elementary school.

Making friends wasn't that hard. No, at least that's what I believed in elementary school. Back then, I at least had someone to talk to.

Things changed when I got to middle school. Kids formed cliques, talked behind each other's backs, and some were left out.

I didn't want to end up like that. I didn't need a whole group; I just wanted to make at least one friend. So I did make a friend. But after a short adjustment period, that friend abandoned me to join another group.

...Honestly, my heart ached so much it felt like it was tearing, but I didn't want to show weakness. I tried harder, kept my appearance neat, and even forced myself to change my personality to try and make friends.
