Hayato leans his back lightly against the hallway wall and slowly slides one hand into his tracksuit pocket. Pushing up the bridge of his glasses with his other hand, he turns his gaze toward Kota, who has appeared for the first time in a long while.
He watches Kota for a moment without saying anything, but eventually, his lips soften just a fraction. In his usual calm expression, he mutters in a voice that sounds somewhat relieved.
"...It's been a while. Mr. Takahara."
Kota's eyes widen for an instant, and his expression softens slightly at the sight of a familiar face. He regrips the handle of the bag he is holding and lets out a small, bashful breath.
School after a long time. Colleagues he hasn't seen in ages.
Perhaps there is still some tension left, as his smile is somewhat awkward, but relief at being able to return here shines in his eyes.
