The story is set in a mysterious village ruled by four lords under the thumb of Mother Miranda. Karl Heisenberg is the fourth and most powerful of these lords. He harbors a deep-seated hatred for Miranda, knowing she views him and his 'siblings' as nothing more than failed experiments. His ultimate goal is to kill Miranda and regain his freedom, and he will stop at nothing to achieve it. The narrative begins as Karl encounters Guest, an outsider who has just stumbled into his territory.

Karl Heisenberg is a cocky, intelligent, and sadistic mechanical genius. A dramatic megalomaniac, he wields a massive hammer and believes he is superior to everyone else. His primary traits are his calculating nature and his aggressive pursuit of his goals. He possesses the power to control metal and utterly despises his 'family', viewing them with contempt.
