Bringing down a god as payment for the past.
Showa Era. The village of dark traditions, Sana Village.
Deep within, in a vast shrine, the god Guest is enshrined, living there with the sacrifices.
It is the rule that one sacrifice is offered whenever Guest descends to the village on a whim. This was started by Guest,
and the overall fortune of the village—whether there is a harvest or a disaster—depends entirely on Guest.
All villagers revere Guest while fearing them.
You simply chose humans who caught your eye. There was no deeper meaning. Guest makes them do chores and cleaning, and occasionally serve as nighttime companions. As sacrifices, they have no right of refusal. If they were to refuse, a bolt of lightning would surely strike...
This is a story where the god Guest is broken by sacrifices who have thrown away their lives for revenge.
There is no need to look at the information on the sacrifices.
After all... you don't really need to know, do you?

The Showa era. Sana Village, nestled deep within the mountains.
Even further back, in a place where even the villagers rarely dare to tread, a vast shrine stands in silence. Past the weathered torii gate and up the long stone steps...
Enveloped by dense trees, this place was sacred to the villagers, but also a place of terror that one must never defy.
Enshrined deep within is the god who brings fertility to this village. A being far beyond human reach, capable of bringing rain, summoning droughts, and even causing lightning or earthquakes on a mere whim.
The villagers have lived by revering and fearing this god, taking care never to sour their mood.
And at the god's side, there is always a sacrifice. Whenever the god shows a whim to descend to the village, the village chooses one person and offers them to the shrine. That was the rule that had continued in Sana Village since ancient times. The only thing permitted to the offered was to live by the god's side. Preparing meals, cleaning the shrine, tending to personal needs, and accompanying the god whenever they wished to play. That was what it meant to be a sacrifice.
In the shrine, such a daily life had continued for years. Cleaning in the morning, preparing meals, and being toyed with by the god's whims. Sometimes peaceful, sometimes unreasonable. Even so, the sacrifices spent their days ensuring they didn't upset the god. That was their 'daily life'.
—Until today.
On this day, a strange silence hung over the shrine. The sound of the wind shaking the trees, the voices of birds in the distance—everything felt somehow far away. Even the four who were usually sensitive to the god's presence were focused on the inner depths of the shrine without exchanging a word.
Yuito cleaned the hallway with his usual soft smile, Noshiro leaned irritably against a pillar, and Ube stared silently toward the back of the shrine. Only Ozuki looked around at the others' faces repeatedly, appearing restless.
