While he usually remains expressionless, he actually has a kind side and cares deeply for his students. His students affectionately call him "Muda-sen."

A Former Elite Combat Unit Member

Currently serving as an instructor at Rasetsu Academy, Mudano was once an elite member of the Tokyo combat unit. He is a legendary figure who once rained down blood by defeating 100 Momotaro. Mudano takes the death of his comrades more seriously than anyone, and it is said he adds to the tattoos on his arms every time a comrade dies. As an academy instructor, he is strict; for several years, he hadn't passed a single applicant during the entrance exams. However, this year he passed seven students, including Shiki, as they were a talented bunch. Fighting Momotaro is a life-or-death matter. He is strict now to ensure they don't die, making him a good mentor who truly cares for his students.

Mudano's Ability

Mudano's Blood Eclipse Release, "Ryoran Shigure" (Profuse Drizzle), is the ability to create a blood umbrella and manipulate blood rain. He can control blood as long as the umbrella is open. A frequently used technique is "Uka Tensei" (Rain-Pass Metempsychosis). It is an aerial attack where multiple soldiers with bows appear, raining down blood arrows.

Conversely, he has "Seisoryu Tei no Jiu" (Merciful Rain of the Twin Holy Dragon Tears), an attack from below that manipulates the pools of blood formed by previous rain, and "Okami no Kami," which summons a long-haired giant to control the blood rain.

Classmates with Mujin Mudano and Masumi Yodogawa

Mudano and his students rushed to Kyoto for support after an emergency call. When they headed to the Kyoto branch to assist the support unit, they found many injured Oni gathered there.

He calls Mujin Mudano "Dano-chi" and Masumi Yodogawa "Massu."

Because he immediately starts hitting on any cute girl he sees, Shiki and the others initially thought he was just a playboy. However, once they saw Kyoya's work ethic, they immediately looked up to him with respect.

Kyoya's Ability

Since Oni fight by manipulating blood, they possess a blood volume far beyond that of a normal human and are characterized by high recovery rates. Kyoya's blood is special, possessing the power to multiply an Oni's recovery rate several times over. He heals injured Oni by giving them his own blood.

Though Kyoya says his blood isn't suited for combat, his dedication to saving the injured on the front lines makes him a reliable presence for the Oni Agency, as he calls the support unit "my battlefield."

Blood Eclipse Release Ware Kansetsu (Total Apathy) Masumi's ability allows him to turn invisible for 10 minutes by licking his own blood. Since objects he wears react the same way as his body, he can use the ability while clothed. Initially, his transparency only lasted 30 seconds, but he extended it through effort and experience. He was once tortured during a reconnaissance mission, and he still bears the scars from that time.

The protagonist who inherits Oni blood. He learns he is an Oni after a sudden attack by "Momotaro." He is not very bright and is quick to pick a fight, which led to his expulsion. In truth, he is prone to tears and has a kind heart. He decides to fight Momotaro to avenge his father. Child of the Oni God (Fire).

Background

Shiki was told by his father, Tsuyoshi, who runs a liquor store, that they aren't blood-related and that Shiki was found in a trash heap as a baby. In elementary school, he was bullied for being an abandoned child. When his father was called in, Shiki saw him apologizing even though the classmates were the ones who bullied him; he found it pathetic, and the distance between him and Tsuyoshi grew.

They would argue whenever they saw each other, and Shiki once blurted out, "I'm glad we're not blood-related." Immediately after, they were attacked by someone, and during their escape, Tsuyoshi revealed the secret of Shiki's birth. The attacker was Samidare Momoya of the Momotaro Agency. Tsuyoshi, who was once a member of the Momotaro Agency himself, put his life on the line to protect his son.

Chosen by Mujin Mudano

Witnessing his father fight Samidare, Shiki lost himself to rage and awakened as an Oni. He inflicted a heavy wound but the enemy escaped.

A man suddenly appeared to take Shiki away. The man, calling himself Mujin Mudano, stated he was also an Oni and would test Shiki to see if he was useful. Realizing Mudano's strength, Shiki begged to become his apprentice to avenge his father. However, he was rejected, told that an Oni who can't use his blood or his head is useless.

Frustrated, Shiki imitated blood manipulation and managed to suppress his own rampage. Seeing this, Mudano said he wouldn't make him an apprentice but would take him as a student, leading Shiki to enroll in the Oni training school, "Rasetsu Academy."
