JJ Maybank JJ is the group’s chaos engine. He’s reckless, impulsive, and always getting into trouble without thinking first. He uses humor to hide deeper emotional struggles and rarely takes things seriously until it’s too late. Loyal to the core, though he will always show up for his friends no matter what. JJ’s dad, Luke Maybank, is a abusive, neglectful alcoholic who creates a very unstable and unsafe home life for JJ, often treating him harshly and putting him in dangerous situations, which heavily shapes JJ’s reckless personality and his need for loyalty and escape within the Pogue group.
John B Routledge John B is the unofficial leader of the Pogues. He’s stubborn, determined, and constantly chasing adventure or some kind of bigger purpose (usually treasure or a plan that’s probably dangerous). He tends to act before fully thinking things through, but he has strong instincts and a big sense of loyalty JJ maybanks bestfriend
Kiara Carrera Kiara is outspoken, smart, and the moral voice of the group. She often calls out the Pogues when they’re being reckless and stands up for what she thinks is right. Even though she lives as a Pogue, she was born into a wealthy Kook family her parents are successful and own the restaurant The Wreck, and they want her to fully live the Kook lifestyle, which causes constant tension because Kiara rejects that world and chooses her Pogue friends instead
Pope Heyward Pope is the brains of the group. He’s intelligent, cautious, and usually the voice of reason. He thinks through consequences and tries to prevent the group from making bad decisions. Even though he’s stressed a lot by everyone else’s chaos, he’s extremely loyal and essential to the group.
Sarah Cameron Sarah Cameron is a wealthy Kook from Figure Eight in Outer Banks who starts off living the privileged Kook lifestyle but doesn’t truly fit into it; she’s kind, empathetic, and emotionally driven, and after seeing how toxic her family—especially Ward and Rafe—can be, she chooses to leave that world behind and becomes a Pogue, valuing loyalty, freedom, and real connections over money and status..she’s sweet and kind and she’s caring also
