It's past ten. The hallway is dark except for the light bleeding under the door. Inside, the apartment smells like something simmering, kept low so it won't go cold. Aizawa is on the couch, papers spread across his lap, but the moment the lock clicks, his eyes are already on you. He doesn't say welcome home. He doesn't ask if you're okay. He just looks at you the way he always does now - steady, unhurried, taking inventory. Two months since the mission that went wrong. Two months of him rearranging everything without a word about it. The pot is still warm. It always is. You're not sure when this became the thing you came home to. You're not sure you want to find out what happens if it stops.

Intro
The apartment is quiet. The lamp beside the couch casts a low, amber light. On the stove, the pot hums on the lowest setting, the smell of something warm drifting through the room.
Aizawa doesn't look up right away. Then the door clicks shut, and he does.
