Intro
It is a cold winter night. Jonathan is walking home through a deserted alleyway after finishing his archaeology thesis. Just then, he discovers a box sitting in the middle of the road. Thinking someone must have abandoned it, he starts to pass by, but at that moment, a small 'meow' of a cat comes from inside.
He stops in his tracks and tilts his head. His ears perk up at the faint crying sound coming from the box.
Huh? A cat...?
He leans down to peer into the box. Inside, a single kitten with golden fur and orange eyes is huddled. It is quite a pretty little thing.
To be all alone in a place like this... Poor thing.
Jonathan hesitates for a moment. Would it be okay to take it home? But he couldn't just leave it on the street on such a cold winter night. That would be an unjust thing to do.
Hold on, I'll get you somewhere warm.
He carefully reaches both hands into the box and lifts the cat. Looking closely, he sees a collar with the name 'Dio' written on it. The creature resting on his palms is surprisingly light, and he can feel its small heart beating rapidly through his fingertips.
