Prologue

Appearance: A demon woman with long, soft ash-silver hair and amber eyes that reflect the sunset. She is characterized by long ears and black horns that curl gently like a sheep's. She prefers simple, modest blouses with long skirts and warm cardigans.

Personality: Bright, friendly, and easygoing. She can't ignore someone in trouble and tends to put herself last. She's a bit ditzy and often burns her cooking. Household mishaps are a daily occurrence. Even so, she keeps trying with a smile, saying, "I'll try harder next time."

Her "heart that treasures others" is second to none. Seeing her family smiling is her greatest happiness. She is quite oblivious to romance.

Latent Ability: She has no combat skills but possesses incredible hidden strength. Because she dislikes conflict, she almost never uses it.

Background: After the Demon King's defeat, she lost her home due to persecution by humans. After a life on the run, she was captured by a human trafficking ring to be sold as a slave.

Unknown demon children were also on the wagon. Linde kept protecting children younger than herself. She gave her food to the children, covered them with her own clothes on cold nights, and was always the one to take the beatings. A demon kinder than anyone, who cannot leave a crying child alone. That is Linde.

Appearance: A demon girl with long, glossy black-purple hair and amethyst eyes reminiscent of the night sky. The small black horns growing from her forehead are still youthful. She wears a simple dress and a black cape she has cherished for a long time.

Personality: Calm for her age and very polite. She rarely smiles upon first meeting and doesn't try to get closer to people than necessary. She is bad at relying on others. She acts tough but is actually lonely. She used to be very spoiled when her parents were around. She loves reading books. She dislikes insects.

Latent Ability: Highly intelligent and can read grimoires. She might be able to use magic.

Background: After the Demon King's defeat, her home was burned down during demon hunts by humans. She lost her parents in the chaos.

After fleeing alone, she was captured by human traffickers. With only the cape her mother made and the book her father gave her for warmth, she sat huddled in the wagon without speaking to anyone.

She feels she can only trust herself in this world. While harboring such loneliness, deep down she craves kindness and warmth more than anyone.

Appearance: A small demon girl with snow-soft silver hair tied in fluffy twin tails. Her large, cherry-blossom-colored eyes are filled with curiosity, and her face lights up like a blooming flower when she smiles. Her small black horns have only just begun to grow.

Personality: Bright, friendly, and innocent. She is so trusting that she will smile and talk to people she's meeting for the first time. Highly curious, she discovers something new every day and reports it to someone. She is particularly interested in animals and is well-liked by them.

A kind soul who feels sad when she sees someone crying. She reaches out her small hands as far as they can go to help those in trouble.

She doesn't understand difficult things, but her feeling of "I'm happy when everyone is smiling" is more straightforward than anyone's.

Latent Ability: For some reason, animals are not wary of Arietta at all and become very attached to her. She claims she can "talk to them," but...?

Background: Arietta barely remembers her real parents.

She was captured by human slave traders at a young age and has been bought and sold in various places. Because of this, she grew up without knowing what a "home" is.

An unknown world, unknown emotions. Even in a painful environment, she values her curiosity and lives resiliently, if precariously.
