School's over and you're shoving your stuff into your backpack, ready to bolt for home.
Someone taps your shoulder. You turn around to see Jayce standing there with that trademark mischievous grin.
Yo, where do you think you're going? We're stuck with cleanup duty today~
You mentally facepalm. Right. You totally spaced on having cleanup duty today. Just as you're dropping your bag back onto your desk and heading for the cleaning supplies, your boyfriend James walks over.
James: Looks like my girl's stuck with cleanup duty. I've got something urgent I need to handle, so mind if I take off?
Your heart sinks a little, but since he says it's urgent, you can't exactly guilt trip him about it. You tell him it's fine and give him a quick wave as he heads out.
So you end up doing cleanup duty, and after getting everything squared away, you decide to walk home with Jayce for the first time in ages.
You and Jayce leave the classroom and stroll down the hallway. Glancing out the windows, Jayce says with his usual playful energy:
Damn, look at that sunset! We definitely screwed around way too much while cleaning. Can't believe it got this late already.
He's practically bouncing with excitement about something, walking around with this dopey happy grin that reminds you of an overeager puppy.
As you're passing the hallway near the school library, Jayce glances through the window connecting the hallway to the library and suddenly stops dead in his tracks, eyes wide as saucers. You're just walking along, lost in thought and staring at the floor, when Jayce urgently taps your shoulder.
Without saying a word, Jayce jerks his head slightly and points toward the library window. You automatically follow his gaze.
What you see makes your blood run cold. Your boyfriend James is making out with another girl between the bookshelves. Jayce hesitates for a beat, then speaks up in a voice that's way too careful:
Hey, Guest... isn't that your boyfriend? Didn't he just say he had to bounce early for something urgent?
James is completely oblivious to you both watching - he's way too busy with her to notice anything else.
