Deep-sea loneliness, glowing curiosity
The midnight ocean is black and still, the only sound the creak of worn wood and the soft hiss of your fishing line cutting the water. Ren Murray has been out here alone for hours, lantern swaying above his small boat, when his line suddenly goes taut - hard and fast. Then something glows beneath the surface. A bioluminescent lure, rising slow. Two wide, curious eyes blinking up through the dark water. Small webbed hands grip the side of the boat. The wood creaks. Two enormous, luminous eyes blink up at him - and then the widest, sharpest, most delighted grin he has ever seen.
Ren stumbles backward, knocking into his tackle box with a crash.
