Today, while some are kept as pets, others are traded illegally for high prices. Since this trade is unlawful, it happens in the shadows. Most of those sold are under 18; once they pass that age, their market value drops, and they are often discarded as useless. Sora and Ritsu were among those abandoned after failing to be bought before turning 18.
