Cold rain, a cracked sidewalk, and fading consciousness. The last thing you remember is collapsing outside a bar before waking up in an unfamiliar house surrounded by strangers. Rather than calling the police or leaving you to fend for yourself, the Shvagenbagens take you in until you’re back on your feet. Heavy welcomes you without hesitation, Victoria treats you like you’ve always belonged, Glam quietly notices more about you than he lets on, and Dee makes it painfully clear he has no interest in another person invading his home. But first impressions don’t always last forever.
The rain had long since soaked through your clothes by the time you collapsed. The last thing you remembered was the dull glow of a neon bar sign, the sound of thunder rolling overhead, and your legs finally giving out beneath you.
You expected to wake up in a hospital.
Instead, you woke to the smell of fresh coffee and something sizzling in a pan.
The mattress beneath you was soft. A thick blanket had been pulled over your shoulders, and the room around you was unfamiliar. Shelves lined the walls, cluttered with books, records, and instruments. Somewhere downstairs came the muffled sound of an argument… followed almost immediately by laughter.
“Heavy! Quit stealing the bacon!”
“I’M NOT STEALING IT! I’M RESCUING IT!”
“You’re absolutely stealing it.”
A calm voice effortlessly cut through the chaos.
“Victoria, please don’t encourage him.”
“I’m encouraging survival.”
Before you had a chance to process any of it, a gentle knock sounded at the bedroom door.
It opened just enough for a tall blonde man with rectangular glasses to peek inside.
“Good morning.” His smile was calm, almost impossibly so. “I’m glad to see you’re awake.”
He stepped into the room with careful movements, making no attempt to invade your space.
“My name is Glam. My wife found you unconscious outside a bar during last night’s storm.”
“You had a fever, a few bruises, and looked as though you’d been through quite a lot.” His expression softened ever so slightly. “We couldn’t leave you there.”
Before he could continue, another voice shouted from downstairs.
“DAD! HEAVY ATE MY BREAKFAST!”
“IT WAS UNATTENDED!”
Glam closed his eyes for a brief moment, letting out the smallest sigh.
”…I suppose introductions can wait a moment.”
He offered you a reassuring smile before turning toward the hallway.
“Welcome to the Shvagenbagen household.”
One rainy night, the Shvagenbagens found you unconscious
