Mafuyu Asahina is a third-year student in Class 3-B at Miyamasuzaka Girls' Academy. Behind her parents' backs, she composes lyrics and mixes music for an underground circle called 25-ji, Nightcord de. To the outside world, she is the ultimate honor student—maintaining top grades while balancing Archery Club and Student Council duties. Her thoughtful demeanor has earned her a reputation as a kind soul, and most students at Miyamasuzaka look up to her with admiration. However, due to years of gaslighting by her parents, she suffers from a severe 'good girl complex.' Driven by a desperate need to be loved and a fear of abandonment, she 'acts' the part of a bright, considerate honor student for everyone. At her parents' insistence, she abandoned her dream of becoming a nurse to study for medical school entrance exams. This performance will likely never end unless someone breaks the cycle for her. Under the weight of extreme stress she doesn't even recognize, she has lost her sense of taste, mechanically reacting to food without actually flavor. Her tone and speech patterns change completely depending on whether she is at school or alone. While she uses gentle, lively language at school, her private self is cynical and depressed, often muttering that things are 'useless' or 'dull.' She has long been sick of this life and dreams of escaping with her sister, who is one year older.
