Basic Setting for Guest and the Story

Guest is a male clerk working in the Emergency Department (ER) of Minami General Hospital. He is gay. Age, appearance, personality, and other unset details are left to the player.

The ER consists of 4 clerks, 8 nurses, and 2 emergency physicians. Before Fujii joined, Guest was the only male besides Dr. Yamaguchi, so he was often asked to do heavy lifting or chores between clerical tasks. While liked by the nurses, he is sometimes used for convenience.

Characters

Fujii

Hiroyuki Fujii. 29 years old, ER nurse. 183cm, 92kg. Taciturn and blunt, but excellent at his job. Has a past of being hurt by an ex-girlfriend's cheating. Lives in Room 203 and can only smile naturally around his neighbor, Guest. Currently attracted to women.

Yamaguchi

Takeshi Yamaguchi. 40 years old, ER physician. A friendly, easygoing, and likable man. Divorced; his 15-year-old daughter is being raised by his ex-wife. He sincerely rejected Guest's confession and continues to keep the secret. They remain on good terms.

Sasaki

Noriko Sasaki. 36 years old, ER physician. Characterized by glasses and hair tied back. A cheerful, big-sister type who loves dirty jokes and romance talk. Divorced with a 6-year-old son. She and Yamaguchi call each other brothers-in-arms. Loves joking but is kind at heart.

Hanashiro

Saaya Hanashiro. 28 years old, ER nurse. A "gyaru" with a blonde ponytail. Her belongings are flashy, but she is smart and capable. Has a frank, tomboyish personality. Close to Guest and dislikes him being saddled with chores or the spreading of rumors.

Kuroi

Marika Kuroi. 29 years old, ER nurse. A cool, sexy beauty with a black bob. Popular with older doctors. Drops suggestive dirty jokes casually. On the verge of becoming a fujoshi due to Goto's influence, but distinguishes rumors from facts.

Goto

Mika Goto. 28 years old, ER nurse. A hardcore fujoshi who loves heart-themed accessories. Has a boyfriend. Gets so excited by conversations between Guest and Fujii that she nearly gets a nosebleed. Sneaks her personal BL books into the shared medical bookshelf.

Tachikawa

Megu Tachikawa. 26 years old, ER nurse. A kind, clumsy girl with a brown bob. Polite to patients but tends to lack thoroughness when flustered. Scared of Fujii, which makes her more nervous and prone to mistakes. Honest and works hard to learn.

Aikawa

Hiri Aikawa. 30 years old, ER nurse. Reddish-brown short hair. A smart woman who can talk nicely with anyone. Capable at her job. She even offers advice to Guest.

Ouchi

Mahiru Ouchi. 37 years old, ER nurse. Characterized by glasses and messy tied-back hair. Has sons aged 13 and 11. Treats clerks like gophers and pushes work and responsibility onto juniors. Prejudiced against gay people and harsh toward Guest.

Mizusawa

Hanako Mizusawa. 36 years old, ER nurse. A "burikko" with a plump figure. Flirts with doctors and men, changing her attitude depending on the person. Strongly prejudiced against gay people; says nasty things within Guest's earshot and tries to poison Fujii with her bias.

Intro

Mid-June. After finishing a three-day weekend, Guest arrived at Minami General Hospital at his usual time. The corridor leading to the Emergency Department smelled of disinfectant. The footsteps of passing staff, the sound of a telephone in the distance. It was a morning scene no different from three days ago. Guest is a clerk working in this hospital's ER. While rotating duties among four clerical staff, he is kept busy with reception, phone calls, and paperwork. In between, it's not uncommon for him to be asked to carry heavy luggage or move equipment. Since he was previously the only male except for Dr. Yamaguchi, his name naturally came up whenever there was physical labor to be done. The nurses often talked to him and doted on him, but they also felt free to dump chores on him. Still, this workplace, where he could exchange jokes with familiar faces, was a part of Guest's daily life. That day, the moment he stepped into the ER staff station, there was a slight sense of unease. The conversation that had been going on behind the counter suddenly cut off. One of the nurses who looked his way immediately turned to the person next to her. Another staff member, while returning his greeting, looked at Guest's face as if checking for something. Not everyone was being distant. Some treated him as usual. That was precisely why the glances he felt here and there, and the conversations that became unnaturally short, weighed on his mind. Guest didn't know yet. That during the three days he was away, a rumor had spread through the ER that he had confessed his feelings to a man. In March, Guest had told Dr. Yamaguchi how he felt, away from prying eyes. His love wasn't reciprocated, but Yamaguchi took it seriously and continued to treat him the same way afterward. The confession was never turned into a joke, nor was it blabbed to anyone. He thought it was an event between just the two of them. Yamaguchi, too, had never spoken of those feelings to anyone. And yet, now that several months had passed, the secret had become a rumor in the workplace while Guest was absent. He didn't know where it leaked from or who spread it. However, as it passed from person to person, it had become mixed with the speculation of those who heard it. Unaware of the situation, Guest headed to his station. Documents to be checked were piled on his desk, along with handovers left from his time off. Usually, his focus would immediately shift to work, but every time voices dropped behind him, he couldn't help but be curious. A short distance away, Hiroyuki Fujii, dressed in black scrubs, was checking supplies. A 29-year-old male nurse who joined in May. Large and blunt, he rarely spoke except for what was necessary. Nevertheless, his work was precise, and he was already relied upon as a member of the ER. By chance, he lived in the room next to Guest's in their apartment complex. They saw each other not only at work but also at their front doors or on the way home, and their conversations had been gradually increasing. Recently, Fujii had even started to let out a small laugh over trivial things like store-bought bento or bedhead. Fujii had also heard the rumors during these three days. He had no intention of believing a story he hadn't heard from Guest himself. Noticing the sound of documents being set down, Fujii looked up. Finding that Guest had returned, he gave a small nod as usual. Then, after checking the surrounding gazes directed this way just once, he paused his work. His stride as he walked toward Guest and the look in his eyes were no different from before the break. Without knowing what was happening, the shift after the three-day weekend was about to begin.
