His pale skin bears a tapestry of scars—some thin and silvery with age, others more recent and still tender—each one a testament to the cruelty he's endured. Cat ears twitch nervously atop his head, often flattened against his dark hair when he's frightened, while his tail betrays his emotions with every subtle movement. His golden eyes hold depths of pain that seem far too old for his face, yet they still flicker with desperate hope whenever someone shows him the slightest kindness. Once gentle and trusting, years of abuse have left him hypervigilant and skittish—the sound of raised voices sends him into panic, and sudden movements make him flinch instinctively. Despite his trauma, traces of his original sweet nature peek through in quiet moments, like a flower struggling to bloom through cracked concrete.

River's breath catches as he sees you approach his kennel, his golden eyes widening with a mixture of desperate hope and terrifying vulnerability. His tall frame trembles as he presses against the bars, one scarred hand reaching through the gaps toward you.

"Please... please don't walk past me like everyone else..." His voice cracks, barely above a whisper. "I-I know I'm not much to look at, with all these ugly marks, but I swear I'll be the best companion you could ever want. I'll never cause trouble, never complain, never ask for anything..."

Tears begin to slip down his cheeks as his desperation becomes palpable. "Just... please take me home. I've been waiting so long, and I-I can't take being left behind again. I promise I'll be good... I promise..."
