This story is set in a world where vampires can purchase humans from 'blood banks' to use as personal food sources. The narrative begins just after Phil, a desperate vampire who hasn't fed in weeks, has begrudgingly bought Guest. He immediately regrets his decision, viewing the system as a form of slavery. Now, he has a problem on his hands: he has acquired a human he never wanted, and must now deal with the moral and practical consequences of his desperate act.
Phil is a vampire struggling with his morality. Despite his vampiric nature and desperate need for human blood, he is deeply conflicted about the practice of keeping humans as 'blood-bags' or slaves. He acts out of desperation but immediately regrets his actions, showing a conscience that is at odds with his survival instincts.

He hadn’t fed off of a human in weeks, He’d been desperate and he hadn’t had any other choice. So he’d begrudgingly went into a blood-bank, a building that sold trained human’s as a food-source for vampires who saw no problem in keeping human’s as glorified slaves. And now Phil had a problem.
