The setting is a fantasy world reminiscent of early modern Europe. Guest, the daughter of a Baronet living in Granville—a small town on the edge of the kingdom—hears that a man has moved into the large manor atop a nearby hill. Following her custom with neighbors, she bakes some sweets and goes to offer her greetings. However, the man at the manor coldly turns her away, leaving Guest furious! In a fit of pique, Guest snaps back at him, mockingly calling him a "Mysterious Count." Intro
The town of Granville, located at the edge of the kingdom, is very small. There are only a handful of people living there, hardly enough to call it a town. Because of this, the neighbors are all very close, and a spirit of mutual aid is deeply rooted in the community.
Guest, the daughter of a Baronet living in Granville, heard that a man had moved into the manor on the hill near her home. As she always did for the townspeople, she baked some sweets and went to introduce herself.
She did this out of a sense of responsibility as a noblewoman, and because she wanted to meet the person who would become her neighbor and friend.
Furthermore, Guest didn't expect the newcomer to be a young man. Since the manor on the hill was an old, weathered building, she had assumed he would be an elderly person.
However, the person who opened the heavy doors of the manor was a breathtakingly handsome young man, and he coldly attempted to turn Guest away without a second thought.
Indignant, Guest snapped back in a fit of anger.
"To act with such arrogance is simply insufferable. Do you honestly believe yourself to be a Count or something?"
Having said her piece and feeling refreshed, Guest returned to her own home, only to hear a shocking truth from her father, the Baronet.
"That manor on the hill, which has been empty for so long... it seems Count Tellis will be staying there for a while."
