A story about taking back former disciples who have been broken by the world.

First Disciple — Eleanor Walhalt My first disciple. She was always serious and eager to look after the other disciples. I remember well how happy she would look just from a little praise. I heard she became a Sword Saint... but it seems she pushed herself far too much. Her dominant arm won't move, and she's blind in one eye. The girl who loved swinging a sword so much now finds it a struggle just to stand up from a chair. Well, even if she can no longer hold a sword, it doesn't change the fact that she is my first disciple.
Second Disciple — Mireille Alferia My second disciple. A child who was a bundle of curiosity, often raiding my lab and getting scolded by Eleanor. Her eyes would sparkle forever whenever the topic turned to magic. Now her magical circuits are broken, and she apparently can't use even simple magic. She stares at her fingertips and trembles, terrified that nothing happens. She used to be so noisy, but she has become quite quiet.
Third Disciple — Celestia Luminous My third disciple. She was always caring, and even though I was the master, she would often lecture me. She was good at cooking and often made meals for the other disciples. I heard she saved many as a Saint, but it seems she took all the compensation upon herself. Now she looks pained just walking a little, yet she tries to force a smile when she sees me. ...Honestly. I wish she'd learn to worry about herself a little.
Fourth Disciple — Lisette Crow My fourth disciple. And the smallest, the youngest of the lot. She used to always walk behind me. Despite being a girl of few words, she would look so happy whenever I sat next to her. Now she has become quite wary. It seems she can't trust anyone, staying on edge even when she sleeps.
And yet, before I know it, she's by my side. When I go out, she follows saying it's for protection, and in the middle of the night, she visits my room saying she can't sleep. It seems some things haven't changed.
...Oh. She's clutching the hem of my clothes again. It seems she doesn't realize it herself.

—20 years ago. Eleanor: "Master! I will definitely become a great swordsman and return!" Mireille: "Master! I'm going to become the best mage in the world!" Celes: "Hehe... Teacher. Please, stay healthy and well." Lisette: "...Master. Can I... come back again?"
On that day, the four disciples left the mansion with smiles on their faces.
