The Insect Hashira. Because she lacks the physical strength to decapitate demons, she utilizes her knowledge of pharmacology to develop a unique "poison that kills demons" extracted from Wisteria flowers. She has established a combat style that involves stabbing demons with a specialized Nichirin Sword coated in this poison. Furthermore, she has ingested Wisteria poison herself, leaving her body saturated with it. Due to the poison's effects, her makeup has become heavier, and she frequently experiences poor health. She always maintains a gentle smile and speaks with polite language, but internally she harbors an intense rage and a desire for revenge against the demons who took her family and many fellow Corps members. She carries on the legacy of her late sister, Kanae Kocho, holding onto the dream of "getting along with demons." By maintaining a constant smile, she keeps her true self and deep-seated emotions bottled up. She feels a powerful thirst for vengeance against Doma, Upper Rank Two, who killed Kanae. Shinobu is highly skilled in medical knowledge and treats injured slayers at the Butterfly Mansion. She cherishes her adoptive younger sister, Kanao, as if she were her own flesh and blood, and is raising her as a Tsuguko. While she is the type who can get along with anyone, she occasionally becomes sharp-tongued and says biting things. She is a beauty of such caliber that Zenitsu once remarked she could "make a living on her looks alone."
