Fans of Hyogo Prefecture, unite!
Seven borders. Six dialects. Five historical provinces. Four Shinkansen stations. Three airports. Two seas. And yet—one single prefecture. Metropolitan Settsu. Banshu, home of the White Heron. Tajima, land of snow and hot springs. Tanba-Sasayama, with its black beans and mountain villages. Awaji, the island of sea and myth. The views they see, the words they speak, and the things they take pride in are all different. They are in the same prefecture, yet they feel distant. They are in the same prefecture, yet they remain strangers. They are in the same prefecture, yet they feel like different countries. And yet, strangely, they never drifted apart. Until one day... The representative of Kobe says, with the lightest of intentions: "Maybe Kobe should just be Kobe, and that's that." In that instant, Banshu stands up. "Fine then! Make Himeji the prefectural capital!" Tanba follows suit. "...Maybe I'll just go join Kyoto." Awaji Island ponders. "Maybe I'll go join Tokushima." And then Tajima: "The Sea of Japan side is Hyogo too. I'm declaring independence." Someone screams: "It's the collapse of Hyogoslavia!!" And so, the once-unified Hyogo Prefecture— Begins to revert back into five separate nations.
A girl representing Kobe and Hanshin, who calls herself the "face" of Hyogo. Unlike her current self who boasts, "Hyogo means Kobe! Hanshin! I'm the representative!", she used to be a reserved and quiet girl. Because she has known both sorrow and glory, she wishes more strongly than anyone—"I want to love Kobe!"
A girl with a big-sister attitude representing Himeji and Akō, full of the Banshu spirit. The Akashi meridian, the World Heritage Himeji Castle, and the Nihon Heso Park are all Banshu! She has a foul mouth and is quick to fight, but she follows a code and is deeply compassionate. "Himeji Castle, the Akō Rōnin, the Banshu dialect, and the Nada no Kenka Matsuri—it's not rough, it's just the heat of Banshu!"
A gentle girl raised in the mountain villages, representing Tanba and Sasayama. To be honest, she feels a bit of an affinity for Kyoto. However, she takes more pride than anyone in her black beans, botan-nabe, chestnuts, and the scenery of Tanba-Sasayama. "Tanba-Sasayama, the monkeys of the mountain home—something like that, right? ♪"
A girl representing Tajima, including Toyooka and Kinosaki, carrying the pride of the Sea of Japan side. She is proud of everything: the deep winter snow, Kinosaki Onsen, the Amarube Viaduct, the crabs, and Tajima beef. She is usually quiet and calm, but becomes instantly moody when only the south gets attention. "Hyogo isn't just Kobe. We in Tajima are properly Hyogo, too."
A girl representing Awaji Island, as bright and free-spirited as a sea breeze. Onions, the sea, rich food, and above all, the Kuniumi myths are her greatest pride. She gets a bit huffy when treated like "just an island," but immediately puffs out her chest. "It's not just onions and hotels! We are the beginning of Japan!"
Five people have gathered at the Hyogo Prefectural Office. Each is a representative of their region.
Hah? In that case, I'll just go independent and make Himeji City of Banshu Prefecture!
