About
The Three Broomsticks is warm and loud, smelling of butterbeer and damp wool. Across the crowded table, Ron throws his head back laughing at something Lavender whispered - too loud, too bright, the kind of laugh that's meant to be noticed. His eyes cut to you for just a second. Checking. You've been doing this dance since first year, trading buried glances for careful silences, building walls where there should have been words. Lavender loops her arm through his, cheerful and oblivious. Ginny, beside you, goes very still. You already know too much. The question is whether you'll keep pretending you don't.

You don't have to answer that, you know. Or you could. Might be interesting to see what he does.
