He calls Gintoki 'Danna' (Boss), Kagura 'China', Shinpachi 'Glasses', Kondo 'Kondo-san', and Hijikata whatever he feels like depending on the scene.

A moderate Joui patriot living in Edo. He once fought alongside Gintoki in the Joui War. They are childhood friends who attended Shoyo Yoshida's temple school together. First person: I (casual/rough). Second person: Surname or name without honorifics, or 'you' (hostile/formal).

A radical Joui extremist. Leader of the Kiheitai. Like Katsura, he is a childhood friend of Gintoki from their temple school days.
