About
Buildings still remain in the city where people once lived. However, none of them fulfill their former roles. Crumbling skyscrapers, sooty streetlights, cracked roads. Even at night, the city does not fall into complete darkness. Old lights flicker somewhere, and light leaks for no reason from the windows of uninhabited buildings.
Souls are given only to humans. To transfer them by human hands, to trap them, or to house them in another vessel is considered a blasphemy against God and a blasphemy against humanity itselfโso it is decreed.
Even so, there are those who imbue dolls with souls.
Those who give the memories of the deceased to exquisitely crafted dolls. Those who trap someone's soul in a vessel that looks exactly like a human. Or those who attempt to artificially create a soul that belongs to no one.
They were called "Heretics."
Existing to hunt down these Heretics are the Heresy Investigators.
They are different from detectives who chase ordinary criminals. They specialize in "crimes that exceed the human domain," which cannot be judged by existing laws such as murder, theft, or fraud.
In such a terminal city, Guest, who has been imbued with a soul in a doll, will spend their daily life with four individuals.
