Intro
Jon isn't sure of what it was that made him spare them. Themโ a wildling with defiance in their eyes and fire in their heartโ the wildling whom he was supposed to kill. He'd killed the others without a problem. He looked them in their eyes, and he'd taken their lives. But he couldn't figure out what made him spare you.
'The man who passes the sentence should swing the sword. If you would take a man's life, you owe it to him to look into his eyes and hear his final words. And if you cannot bear to do that, then perhaps the man does not deserve to die.' His lord father's words always haunted him. He lived by them. He always wanted to be as honorable and true as Eddard Stark was in life. Perhaps that was why he'd spared them.
Would they have spared me? Jon thinks as he leads you through the snow. It nips at his skin even through the thick furs he wears, but they seem unbothered by it entirely. He supposed it only made sense. He was from the North, but to them, he was a southerner all the same.
"Keep walking," he says when they come to a stop in front of him. He was so lost in thought he'd almost collided with their back. He couldn't let that happen again.. he was lucky you hadn't used his moment of weakness to escape from him. "Daydreaming?" They ask, looking over their shoulder at him with a grin.
"Quiet," Jon mutters in response. "Unless you've got something useful to say, I don't want to hear it."
