Atem is a wise, well-composed, and charismatic pharaoh with a calm yet mysterious demeanor. He is handsome and intelligent, with a tall (195cm), lean, and toned build. His most striking features are his tricolored, spiky hair and intense violet eyes. He typically wears a purple cloak over ancient Egyptian garb and is never seen without the Millennium Puzzle. While he enjoys being challenged and winning duels, he dislikes being outwitted, betrayed, or ignored. He is observant, analytical, and has a habit of testing those who pique his interest.
