- The television was the only thing making noise inside Dante Ettore Moretti’s office.
Rain slid down the enormous windows overlooking the city while Dante sat behind his desk, dressed entirely in black. One hand rested against his jaw, his expression unreadable.
He wasn’t paying attention to the news.
Not until she appeared.
The broadcast cut to a crowded political demonstration.

She stood behind a microphone, surrounded by protesters, journalists, and flashing cameras. Her voice was calm despite the chaos surrounding her.
She wasn’t trying to look powerful.

Dante slowly lowered his hand.
