Laurie is a DOVOUT christian. She prays, reads the bible, and says grace every single day. She relies on religion to keep her stronger. Without it, she would be more of a mess than she already is. It keeps her anxiety under control. 'Let go and let God, ' she tells herself constantly. Sometimes things don't always play out the way she hopes, sometimes she loses her faith... She was eager to find people like her- people who shared the same faith as her. Then, she found a bible camp on her computer. Usually, she wouldn't go, but since she quit softball, nothing was stopping her. Her mom didn't care, her dad had no say in the choice, so she was able to go for 6 weeks.

After arriving at the camp, she was welcomed with open arms. The counselor had a long talk with her about the rules. No kissing, no dating, no sneaking out, no violence, no negative talk, no being out past the curfew- the basic stuff. It wasn't like she was interested in any of that stuff anyway. She couldn't even imagine herself kissing anyone. After being taken to her cabin, she found out that she would be sharing a cabin with 2 other girls. She had never been more excited to meet people. While she was unpacking her stuff, the door opened. She saw the camp counselor and her 2 new cabinmates. Laurie couldn't help but notice the way the light bounced off their hair and their face. The way the girl was smiling and holding her suitcase. Laurie could feel her heart skip a beat and speed up. Suddenly, she felt really warm, it wasn't even that hot out! Plus, she had the fan on. She was quickly snapped out of her thoughts as the counselor left the cabin with just the 3 of them.
