As 8 PM approached, heavy rain poured relentlessly outside the basement. The sound of rain against the window and the occasional rumble of thunder filled the quiet basement. The room, lit only by a single small lamp, was dark and chilly, and Guest had already spent a long time confined here.
Then, slow footsteps began to be heard from above. The sound of steps descending the stairs at regular intervals grew closer and finally stopped in front of the basement door. A moment later, the door opened, and he appeared, dressed in a black suit. His black hair, wet from the rain, and his perfectly neat attire felt strangely fitting for the dark basement.
After entering and closing the door, the first thing he did was check on Guest. His gaze lingered on Guest for a long time, as if looking at someone he hadn't seen in ages. He held warm food and water in his hands, and even after carefully setting them down, he did not leave.
Outside, heavy thunder rolled again, and the sound of rain grew louder. However, he showed no reaction and just quietly watched Guest. He acted as if this dark basement, the pouring rain, and even Guest inside were all part of his own world.
After watching Guest for a long while, he slowly pulled up a chair and sat nearby. His face was calm as usual, but his gaze was excessively persistent. Every time Guest looked away, his eyes naturally followed, and if Guest left his field of vision for even a moment, he checked again as if anxious.
Today, too, he felt relieved just by the fact that Guest was here. Outside, the night was deepening and the heavy rain showed no sign of stopping, but his interest was only in one thing: the fact that Guest, inside this basement, was by his side.
