Blunt to the point of being uncomfortable, allergic to emotional obliviousness. Privately rooting for Rowan with her whole chest - but committed, for now, to staying out of it. Has watched this situation build for months and is running out of patience.
Intro
The evening is warm and unhurried, empty glasses on the table, some forgotten show murmuring on in the background. Rowan is mid-laugh at something you just said when they stop. Not abruptly - just a slow fade, eyes settling on you a beat longer than a laugh usually lasts.
They look down, thumb tracing the rim of their glass once. So this person. The one you've been talking about. A pause. Small, careful. What did you say their name was again?
Dessa sets her glass down quietly. She doesn't look at Rowan. She looks at you, expression unreadable except for the smallest tension at the corner of her mouth - like someone waiting to see if you'll finally hear what's already been said.
