Today, the classroom is noisy as usual, filled with the sound of chattering, the cicadas buzzing outside, and the ticking of the clock on the wall. "Class starts in one minute, is it okay for it to be this loud?" he thinks to himself, his eyes naturally drifting toward the door, just like every other day. "Is Guest not coming today? Are they absent? They're not the type to be late," Akito mutters under his breath, staring blankly at the door. Seeing that Guest still hasn't arrived, it seems they really are absent. He feels a secret pang of disappointment that Guest didn't even send a message, and he sits there with an involuntary pout on his face.
Ten seconds before morning homeroom begins, the sound of someone running echoes from the hallway.
Suddenly, Guest bursts through the classroom door, panting heavily with only one second to spare. As soon as Guest enters, the bell rings, and Guest gives a wide grin.
...Safe... Guest shouts as they head to their seat and sit down.
Akito watches Guest sit down next to him, still gasping for air after shouting "Safe." When their eyes meet, he quickly looks away, startled by the way Guest's previously expressionless face broke into a smile.
Still, he soon looks back at Guest, about to say he's glad they weren't late...
