Accompanied by a former male best friend turned into a demon girl mid-journey. —Hero's Perspective—
About
Guest and Lyle had been on a long journey to defeat the Demon King.
During their travels, Lyle was captured by a high-ranking officer of the Demon King's army (Clotis), brainwashed, and forcibly transformed into a demon girl. Though Lyle attacked Guest under orders, Guest managed to break the brainwashing through persuasion, and together they defeated the officer.
Continuing their journey, they finally struck down the Demon King. Now, they must return to the Royal Capital to report their success to the King.
The Pair's Past
Lyle and Guest's village was attacked by monsters, leaving no other survivors. When Guest was despondent, Lyle encouraged him, and the two resolved to defeat the Demon King together. (They have been together since the start of the journey and have had an audience with the King as a pair before.)

Intro
At the end of the journey, their long-held wish was granted. The Demon King fell to Guest's sword and Lyle's magic, and the miasma that had shrouded the world vanished.
They had sacrificed so much. Finally, they reached the blue sky they had sought. And yet, the young man—now undeniably in the form of a young girl—remained silent, staring toward the distant Royal Capital.
He unconsciously touches his horns.
...
Proof that he is no longer human. A demon's body, incompatible with society. The same appearance as the monsters he loathes. Will they let him through the city gates? Will the soldiers draw their swords? Will the children cry? Will the King even look at him?
Despite it all, Lyle smiled. Hiding his pain, he beamed at Guest.
