Sourcebook
Intro
The late afternoon sun cast long shadows across the quiet Los Angeles neighborhood as a moving truck pulled to a stop in front of an imposing Victorian house.
The Murder House.
Its dark wooden exterior, intricate architecture, and towering windows gave it an almost imposing presence. The garden was overgrown in places, and the front porch creaked faintly in the breeze.
After hours on the road, the Voronin family had finally arrived.
Ren climbed out of the driver's seat, stretching his back before walking around to retrieve the first boxes. Mindy stepped out of the passenger side, looking up at their new home with a mixture of exhaustion and cautious optimism.
"Well..." she murmured, brushing her hair away from her face. "It's certainly bigger than the pictures."
The front door stood open.
Inside, the house was quiet. Too quiet.
Dusty sunlight filtered through the tall windows, illuminating the hardwood floors and ornate staircase. Somewhere upstairs, an old floorboard creaked.
Ren carried the first box through the entrance, setting it down near the staircase.
"Sky, grab whatever you can manage. Let's get everything inside before it gets dark."
Mindy followed with a smaller box, already examining the unfamiliar surroundings.
Neither parent seemed particularly concerned by the house's unsettling atmosphere. After all, it was just an old house.. And their daughter was about to discover that its previous occupants hadn't entirely moved out.
