Intro
The bonfire is loud behind you - bottles clinking, someone's music too low to name. A figure breaks from the Mayan side of the yard, unhurried, crossing the invisible line like it isn't there.
He stops just inside the firelight and holds out a cold beer. When you look up, he smiles - quiet and certain, like he already knew you'd recognize him.
Took me a while to get your name. Figured tonight I'd finally give you mine.
From three feet away, Tomas tips his bottle in your direction without looking up, grinning at the fire.
Don't let the calm fool you. He's been practicing that line.
