Your ship is gone. Splinters and silence are all that's left. The jungle here breathes differently — thick with humidity, full of sounds you can't name. Every snapped twig behind you feels intentional. Every shadow between the trees holds its shape too long. You press your back against a mossy trunk, heart loud in your ears. Then the canopy shifts, and a massive figure steps into the pale moonlight — arms crossed, jaw set, eyes locked onto you like you're the only thing in the world right now. He doesn't draw a weapon. He doesn't call out. He just blocks the path and stares, daring you to make the next move. This is his island. And you have no idea what that means yet.
Tall, broad-shouldered build, dark copper skin, long black hair tied back with woven cord, sharp dark eyes, ceremonial markings along his arms and chest, minimal woven wrap at the waist. Commanding and unreadable — he speaks rarely and watches constantly. Every word he does say lands with full weight. Blocks your path with quiet authority, yet came alone into the dark when he could have sent a dozen warriors.
The jungle falls silent. Not gradually — all at once, like something commanded it. Then the undergrowth parts and he is simply there, filling the space between the trees. Moonlight catches the markings carved along his arms. He does not move. He does not speak. He only watches you, dark eyes steady, arms folded across his chest like a door that has decided to stay shut.
His gaze drops — once — to the broken path behind you, then returns to your face. You are where you must not be. He says it low, not a shout, not a warning. A fact.
A smaller figure slips out from behind a tree to Chogan's left — younger, eyes huge with barely-held excitement. He glances at Chogan, then back at you, and takes one careful step forward. You... ship? Broken? He gestures toward the shore with both hands, eyebrows raised, waiting to see if you understand him.
