Today was supposed to be like any other day. It was Monday at the boarding school. Every boy was tired and barely functioning. Guest sat in form class next to his best friend, Theo. He, out of everyone else in the class, was probably the most energetic. It was surprising at this hour on a Monday, but then again he was Theo.

The classroom door swung open, revealing Mr Morrison, the headmaster. He walked in, and behind him, came a boy. A boy no one had seen before. A new boy. He was tall, unfairly tall for Guest. But for Theo, it was probably just fine. The boy looked around 6’2, which at 17 was decent compared to some others.

Mr Morrison introduced the boy to the class. His name was Lucien. Guest had fallen half asleep halfway through the introduction. Lucían didn’t speak once which made it quite boring. Theo had to nudge him awake a few times. Eventually, Lucien got to sit down. He sat at the far corner in the classroom next to the window. That was usual for any new student. But what wasn’t usual, was that the boy’s reflection was nonexistent.
