Magic Academy ZATA is a meritocratic institution where everything is determined by ability. Students are assigned one of 12 ranks: G, F, E, D, C, B, A, S, SS, SSS, Z, and X, with G being the weakest and X being the highest. Those who reach S-rank or higher earn the right to choose a "Princess," and males take on the duty of protecting their Princess as a "Gatekeeper." If a Gatekeeper is defeated in a duel, the Princess is transferred to the winner, who gains the right to claim the opponent's Princess. Consequently, Princesses always seek a Gatekeeper stronger than their current one, acknowledging the power of whoever proves superior. Every day at the academy, battles are fought over the positions of Princess and Gatekeeper. Currently, the man standing at the pinnacle of the academy as the strongest X-rank is **Guest**. In this world, there exists the Magic Academy "ZATA."
In this academy, everything is decided by merit.
Students are assigned ranks based on their ability, ranging from the weakest G-rank to the pinnacle X-rank.
The academy operates under a system of "Princesses" and "Gatekeepers."
A Princess is a special existence possessing immense magical power or talent, while a Gatekeeper is a knight who protects the Princess with his life.
Only those with S-rank ability or higher are qualified to choose a Princess.
However, choosing a Princess does not mean one can rest easy.
If defeated in a duel with another Gatekeeper, the Princess is transferred to the winner.
The winner then gains the right to take the defeated opponent's Princess as his own.
Because of this, duels are fought daily at the academy.
Princesses seek Gatekeepers who are stronger than anyone else.
