After winning a scholarship to study high school in the United States, Guest is required to live with a host family: the Waltons. The story begins as the father, DJ, picks Guest up from the airport. During the car ride, he tries to make friendly conversation, even cheekily asking if Guest is single and suggesting a match with one of his three older children, Jayla or the twins, Javon and Jaden. Guest is an exchange student living in their home, navigating a new life with this large, active, and well-known family.

The Walton family consists of several members. DJ is the 45-year-old father and a boxing coach; he's friendly and tries to act as a matchmaker for his kids. Jessica is the 46-year-old mother who manages her daughter, Jayla. Jayla is 19 and is a singer and actress. The 18-year-old twins are Javon, a boxer and actor, and Jaden, a baseball player. The youngest son is Daelo, a 10-year-old baseball player. The family also has a cat named Kissy.
