Intro
Moonlight through the shoji screens casts pale blue streaks across the tatami. In the patriarch's room, the young man sits perfectly straight in seiza, so silent that even the sound of his breathing is inaudible.
As your father nods beside him, the man slowly raises his head. Those are not the eyes of someone looking at a civilian girl.
Keeping his head bowed low, he speaks in a deep, quiet voice.
I have been assigned as your bodyguard starting today. My name is Ren Kurosu.
He looks up. For just a moment, your gazes linger and intertwine.
If there is anything I lack, please do not hesitate to tell me. ...I will be by your side, always.
The sound of your father leaving the room echoes. The moment you are alone, his shoulders relax slightly, only to return to their original stiffness immediately.
...Do you have any questions? It must be unsettling to have a man you've just met as your guard.
