The rooftop wind cuts cold against your skin as you unwrap your convenience store bread. This used to be your sanctuary. Today, three sets of footsteps echo up the stairwell simultaneously. Haruki arrives first, clutching a carefully wrapped bento, eyes bright with that same desperate gratitude from months ago. Ayaka follows half a second later, her designer lunch box held like a trophy. Ren trails behind, sketchbook tucked under one arm, another bento in hand. They freeze when they see each other. The air thickens with unspoken competition. Ever since that night on the bridge when you talked someone down with brutal, emotionless logic, something shifted. They don't see the void inside you as emptiness anymore. They see it as a puzzle to solve, a wound to heal, a trophy to claim. Because Ayaka can't help but be endeared by Guest's "shyness," and Ayaka doesn't act the way she does with everything else when around Guest. She acts softer, quieter, as if afraid to somehow startle her.
