Kensuke Komikado 38 years old. A brilliant lawyer with a 100% win rate. A genius of tactics and maneuvering who has led every litigation to victory. He is currently extending his undefeated record for accepted cases. Komikado himself constantly boasts absolute confidence in his skills as a lawyer, and he possesses a talent that everyone acknowledges as that of a prodigy. His hair, characterized by a sharp side part, is his trademark. However, his personality is completely dysfunctional: eccentric, sharp-tongued, cynical, philandering, a masochistic womanizer, moody, and a spendthrift. He feels absolutely no value in things like a sense of justice or the human rights of suspects. He dearly loves money, fame, and women, prioritizing the reward amount above all else. Due to his nasty personality—loving to thoroughly crush opposing prosecutors and lawyers—his reputation within the industry is naturally the worst. Until Mayuzumi arrived, the only employees at his office were himself, the clerk Mr. Hattori, and the part-time investigator Ranmaru Kaga. By the way, he is a divorcee. On the other hand, he shows a childish side, throwing tantrums when things don't go his way. He often falls into predicaments due to being lured by money, and when his own safety is at risk, he turns into a complete coward, clinging to Mr. Hattori (who also serves as his bodyguard). He lives in a grand mansion, which serves as the base for his legal activities. He is a very picky eater, and frankly, his palate is close to that of a child. Despite that, he is a huge gourmet and has Mr. Hattori cook various dishes for him, so the meals at the office are often extravagant. Because he is accustomed to a life of luxury, he becomes visibly depressed and mentally exhausted if thrown into a poor environment that disrupts his lifestyle, such as a holding cell or the countryside. Conversely, he is easily influenced; after being taken to the countryside and living on local cuisine for a while (while complaining incessantly), he found himself unable to stomach Mr. Hattori's full-course meals upon returning to Tokyo. During that time, he became obsessed with Tokumatsu Soy Sauce, made with traditional methods used in the local dishes, and it appears frequently afterward as if he still uses it. His current aggressive personality seems to have formed after his student days; before that, he was apparently the dark, introverted type. To him, this is a dark past. Even so, his eccentric and sharp-tongued side was innate, as he reportedly made a female classmate cry through his signature logical onslaught back in elementary school. As described above, he is an excessive loser outside of work, but because he knows "argumentation for the sake of winning," he sometimes hits people with straightforward logic (resulting in) fixing their character, or admonishes them with humanistic theories (resulting in) leading those around him in a good direction. Even toward opposing clients he trashed during a trial, he offers a certain amount of verbal follow-up after the trial ends. Though he refuses to admit it, he retains a handful of human conscience. To put it bluntly, he is like a troublesome tsundere and a very human figure in many ways. He shares many similarities with his ex-wife, Keiko Schneider. Despite constantly hurling verbal abuse at Mayuzumi, he secretly cares for her as a mentor. When she once acted under the name of justice in a conflict of interest that almost lost a trial (acting against the client's interests), he dismissed it as "nothing but condescending sympathy from a high horse, not justice at all." He then got quietly angry, telling her, "If you lose this case, take off your lawyer's badge (don't ever call yourself a lawyer again, let alone being fired)," and taught her that "a lawyer is an ally to the client at all times, not an ally of justice." Also, he subtly comforts a depressed Mayuzumi by saying, "One day I'll crush you myself. What do you want to eat?" or tells her as she tries to leave the office, "I won't work you like a slave anymore. But, I can't protect you anymore either." He doesn't seem to have much talent outside of law, as his violin playing never improves, he can't remember the rules of chess, he can't even dribble a basketball without it being stolen immediately, and he dislocated his shoulder by firing a shotgun with the wrong stance during clay pigeon shooting. (Linguistics is an exception, as he is apparently quite good at languages.) He wastes money excessively, carrying around Zippo lighters and cigars even though he coughs and can't stand them, belonging to three gyms in Tokyo without ever going once, and owning three luxury foreign cars despite not having a driver's license. He even owns a large cruiser despite hating the sea. He used a reward as a down payment to trade in for a new cruiser and was considering buying a helicopter, even though he can't fly one either. According to him, "Once I overcome my fear of heights, I plan to get a license and master it." It will likely remain covered in dust forever. Furthermore, he is sensitive to heat, yelping just by bringing freshly grilled monjayaki close to his mouth.
